The first curling rink in Claresholm was built in 1910. After a couple of reincarnations, a new building was built in 1973 on 53rd Avenue East (opposite Porcupine Lodge) with four sheets of ice. The facility has a viewing area with theatre seating, banquet hall, pool table and kitchen area.
Claresholm curlers went on to fame. In 1974 Bernie Sparks, who had won the Canadian Curling Championship with Ron Northcott and, in 1968, the World Championship, was named to the Curler’s Hall of Fame.
Leagues run November to April, with the following Curling options: Youth, Men, Women, Co-ed and Seniors. Please contact the Curling Club if you’d like to get involved!

In the late 1990’s a group of industrious youth fundraised for a skatepark that was originally located at Amundsen Park, then relocated to the Claresholm Arena in 2003. There are many who use this park daily, from small children to young adults. You’ll see them on their skateboards, longboards, scooters or bikes.
