Claresholm is one of eleven communities in Canada approved for the rural immigration pilot program, and is the only community to be selected in Alberta. The Claresholm RNIP will support economic development by attracting newcomers that are qualified to fill vacant, full-time, permanent jobs within 25 km Claresholm.
Eligible employers can recruit and hire foreign skilled workers to fill local job vacancies. Since February 2020, Claresholm has issued 46 community recommendations for employment at 21 different businesses in Claresholm. Qualified candidates that wish to live and work in Claresholm, and who meet the federal criteria must apply for jobs in Claresholm in order to obtain an offer of employment. Candidates that receive an offer of employment and a community recommendation from the Claresholm Economic Development Committee, can apply for permanent residency in Canada. Claresholm is no longer using the Claresholm RNIP Portal to post job vacancies. Eligible RNIP candidates are invited to apply to any job within the community of Claresholm.
The Claresholm Economic Development Committee has been approved under Government of Canada Ministerial Order to recommend immigrants for permanent residency until February, 2024
